China to take countermeasures against U.S. congressman
BEIJING, July 31 (Xinhua) -- China has decided to take countermeasures against U.S. Congressman Jim McGovern, a Democrat representing Massachusetts, in response to his frequent words and deeds in recent years interfering in China's internal affairs and undermining China's sovereignty, security and development interests.
According to a decision published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, in accordance with China's Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law, the Chinese side has decided to take the following countermeasures:
Movable, immovable and all other kinds of properties related to McGovern in China will be frozen.
Organizations and individuals in China are prohibited from engaging in transactions, cooperation and other activities with McGovern.
McGovern, his spouse, and his children will not be granted visas and will not be allowed to enter China.
The decision will be effective from July 31, 2024.
