Jordan's king urges to stop conflict in Gaza during meeting with French president
AMMAN, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan on Wednesday said stopping the conflict in Gaza is an absolute necessity, during his meeting with visiting French President Emmanuel Macron in Jordan's capital Amman, according to a statement by Jordan's Royal Hashemite Court.
The two leaders looked into international efforts in pursuit of an end to the cycle of violence, while reaching a political horizon that ends the Israeli-Hamas conflict, guarantees security, and achieves just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
Warning deteriorations and regional repercussions of the escalation in Gaza, the king called on the international community to pressure Israel to stop the attacks, protect civilians, and end the siege on the strip.
The Jordanian leader reiterated his rejection of any attempts to displace or internally displace the Palestinians in Gaza.
He also warned of the deteriorating humanitarian crisis in the enclave, highlighting the importance of securing the delivery of humanitarian aid.
Macron arrived in Amman after holding talks on Tuesday with Israeli and Palestinian leaders.
