Mainland to provide more platforms for Taiwan businesses to participate in BRI
BEIJING, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese mainland will continue making efforts in providing more platforms for businesses from Taiwan, to facilitate their participation in the joint construction of the Belt and Road, a mainland spokesperson said on Wednesday.
Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, told a press conference that over the past 10 years, the mainland has been vigorously encouraging Taiwan businesses and enterprises to join the development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
As part of the efforts, a document on supporting Fujian Province to build a demonstration area for integrated development across the Taiwan Strait has been released, and platforms have been built to encourage Taiwan businesses to develop trade with BRI countries and regions, and to support their participation in BRI-related projects on the mainland or with mainland partners, Zhu said.
The mainland is also enhancing awareness of the BRI among Taiwan enterprises and compatriots, according to the spokesperson.
