Xinhua wins OANA Award for Excellence in News Agency Quality

ISTANBUL, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- China's official Xinhua News Agency won the OANA (Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies) Award for Excellence in News Agency Quality for its Social Media Account Cluster for Drone Reporting at the 51st OANA Conference held here on Monday, according to the OANA executive committee.

Xinhua was commended for its foreign news coverage, worthy of reference and learning by other media colleagues. Its project received unanimous praise from the jury and notched top marks.

The Robotic System For News Generation by Russia's TASS news agency ranked second. Anadolu Agency came third with its Practical Studio training program.

At the conference, OANA members also had in-depth discussions on such topics as "Areas of Cooperation for News Agencies in the Fight against Disinformation" and "The Role of News Agencies in the Age of Disinformation."

Founded in 1961 in Thailand, OANA aims to expand news exchange among regional news agencies and strengthen cooperation between news agencies in and outside the region.
