Chinese ambassador library inaugurated at National University of Laos

VIENTIANE, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese ambassador library has been inaugurated at the National University of Laos (NUOL) in the Lao capital Vientiane, aiming to enhance Lao students' understanding of China-Laos friendship through reading.

Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Laos Liang Dazong told the inauguration ceremony on Friday that the library aims to enrich the reading resources of the NUOL, create a good reading environment, help students develop a good habit of reading, and enhance Lao students' understanding of China-Laos friendship.

He said China and Laos attach great importance to personnel training and regard youth as the hopes of a country and the future of a nation, and both sides will further enhance educational cooperation.

For his part, Vice President of NUOL Dayxanoulath Senduangden said the library is important for the university, which provides students with the opportunity to find more sources of knowledge. Many Lao students are interested in learning Chinese and applying for a Chinese scholarship.

The books collected in this library include Chinese language, culture and literature.

The vice president said this library is a symbol of friendly relations and the community with a shared future between Laos and China.

The Chinese Embassy has established libraries in several provinces of Laos and will continue to create more libraries in the Southeast Asian country, in order to bring vitality for the development of Laos' education and plant a seed of China-Laos friendship.
