CPC's birthplace draws increasing number of foreign visitors
SHANGHAI, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Since reopening to the public in June 2021, the memorial of the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Shanghai has so far received over 3 million visitors, including 1,735 foreign officials and their retinue.
Saturday marks the 102nd founding anniversary of the Party, and it is usually a peak tourist season for the memorial. Currently, about 10,000 people visit the memorial on average every day, leaving some 1,000 notes on its message board each day.
Among the notes left there, a significant number are from foreign visitors. Many foreign ambassadors and diplomats have expressed their awe while talking about their experience of visiting the memorial. They were particularly struck by the remarkable changes that China has undergone over the past century under the leadership of the CPC.
Carlos Alberto Méndez, a vlogger from Honduras, was one of the foreign visitors spotted at the red culture-themed memorial. Speaking about his understanding, he said the Party has explored a new economic development model under the guidance of its socialist theory.
He went on to add that his trip to China made him realize the harmonious coexistence between modern cities and nature, leading to a deeper understanding of sustainable development.
"After returning to Honduras, I will try to spread what I see and hear in a way that is easy for the audience to understand so that more Hondurans can understand how socialism has made China prosperous," the vlogger said.
The ruling philosophy of the CPC is full of wisdom, which not only meets China's development needs but also deserves to be learned by Arabian countries, said Mohamed Ziad Zaitoun, the third secretary of the Syrian Embassy in China, when visiting the memorial of the first CPC National Congress.
China has made great development achievements under the leadership of the Party and benefited the world at the same time, the diplomat added.
"The site of the first CPC National Congress not only witnessed the groundbreaking events in China but also witnessed the changes brought about by the founding of the CPC to world history," Zaitoun said.
The CPC has launched the world's largest and most powerful poverty alleviation campaign, successfully lifting nearly 100 million people out of absolute poverty. Such a feat has provided the world with China's plan for poverty alleviation and governance while offering valuable reference for developing countries to get rid of poverty, said Nazar Majeed, the first secretary of the Iraqi Embassy in China, who had also visited the memorial.
Chinese modernization is inseparable from the leadership of the CPC. Chinese modernization has rich connotations, and under the leadership of the CPC, the Chinese nation will certainly be able to achieve great rejuvenation, noted Ahmed Chouaib, Chargé d'affaires of the Arab League Representative Office in China.
Since the reopening of the renovated memorial in 2021, more than 240,000 messages have been written by visitors from home and abroad, expressing their thoughts on the founding and revolutionary history of the Party.
Among the messages, some are from the descendants of the Party's revolutionary martyrs, while others are left by foreign guests, and this vividly demonstrates the strong attraction and appeal of the birthplace of the CPC, said Xue Feng, curator of the memorial.
