Event held in Cambodia to introduce China's Conghua lychees
PHNOM PENH, June 26 (Xinhua) -- An event to introduce China's Conghua lychees to Cambodian consumers was held here on Monday to promote the fruit's popularity and increase agricultural cooperation between China and Cambodia.
Reservations for ordering the lychees were filled to capacity, said Lanton Cloud, a Cambodian e-commerce brand and the importer of the fruit.
Conghua lychee, planted in the Conghua District of Guangzhou City in south China's Guangdong Province, is known for its fragrance and sweetish taste, said Li Kun, chairman and chief executive officer of Lanmei Aviation Group, which owns Lanton Cloud.
"As lychee is one of the most difficult fruits to (transport and) keep fresh, the Lanton Cloud has strictly controlled the quality of the products, from picking, sorting, packaging to air transportation," he said.
Li said the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership agreement and the China-Cambodia Free Trade Agreement have allowed the company to import products from China to Cambodia and vice versa, with preferential tariffs.
"Today is really meaningful because I have tasted the flavor of the best lychees in the world," a Cambodian participant, who gave his first name Veasna, said.
