China Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony held

TIANJIN, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The 2022 China Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held here on Sunday as 15 special tribute figures, nine inductees and a collective comprising the "outstanding new China basketball 50" were honored as Hall of Fame members.

The ceremony was held at China's oldest indoor basketball court in Tianjin's Nankai District.

15 Chinese basketball figures who have made outstanding contributions to the sport were honored as "special tribute figures".

Inductees included women's world championship bronze medalist Song Xiaobo and merit coach Jiang Xingquan, who received Hall of Fame badges, the highest honor in Chinese basketball.

According to the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), around 600 Chinese basketball-related people were nominated for the Hall of Fame. A 16-strong candidate list was announced after the first two stages and handed over to the Final Review Committee to decide the final nine inductees.

Inductees: Mu Tiezhu, Hu Weidong, Liu Yudong, Wang Zhizhi, Song Xiaobo, Cong Xuedi, Zheng Haixia, Jiang Xingquan, Xu Limin

Special tribute figures: Zhang Boling, Shu Hong, Dong Shouyi, Song Junfu, Tang Baokun, Mou Zuoyun, Zhang Zipei, Zhang Changlu, Yu Bangji, Yang Fulu, Cheng Shichun, Chen Wenbin, Bai Jinshen, Qian Chenghai, Yang Boyong
