S.Korea reports 11,040 new COVID-19 cases
SEOUL, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- South Korea reported 11,040 new COVID-19 cases as of midnight Sunday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 25,131,505, the health authorities said Monday.
The daily caseload was down from 21,469 in the previous day due to fewer virus tests, but it was higher than 8,975 tallied a week earlier, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA).
For the past week, the daily average number of confirmed cases was 21,695.
Among the new cases, 81 were imported from overseas, lifting the total to 68,870.
The number of infected people who were in a serious condition stood at 248, up one from the previous day.
Eleven more deaths were confirmed, leaving the death toll at 28,851. The total fatality rate was 0.11 percent.
