Patriotic film leads China's holiday box office
BEIJING, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Patriotic action film "Home Coming" dominated China's box office during the National Day holiday which concluded Friday, garnering 1.02 billion yuan (about 144 million U.S. dollars).
The earning accounts for 68 percent of China's total box office revenue of nearly 1.5 billion yuan generated during the seven-day holiday, according to movie data platforms.
With an opening day earning of 50.92 million yuan on Sept. 30, a day before the start of the holiday, the film's cumulative revenue reached nearly 1.09 billion yuan by Saturday morning.
The action drama stars Zhang Yi as a Chinese diplomat and revolves around the evacuation of Chinese nationals from a war-torn nation.
Box office tracker Maoyan forecasts the film to complete its China box office run with more than 1.8 billion yuan.
