Exhibition on China's Yunnan held in Bangladesh for promoting cooperation
DHAKA, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- A thematic exhibition highlighting China's southwestern Yunnan province has been held in the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka.
The Colorful Yunnan exhibition, held at Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Dhaka on Saturday, showcased Yunnan's local culture, heritage and a variety of products including fruits, nuts and flowers.
Yunnan Governor Wang Yubo said in a video speech that there are nearly 900 Bangladeshi students currently studying in Yunnan, and in the first half of this year, trade volume between Yunnan and Bangladesh reached 155 million U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 336 percent, adding that Yunnan province is willing to deepen its cooperation with partners in Bangladesh.
K. M. Khalid, Bangladesh's state minister of cultural affairs, said in his speech that Bangladesh and China have a long history of friendship, and there is enormous potential for bilateral cooperation, stressing that Bangladesh looks forward to strengthening cooperation with Yunnan in the fields of tourism, the economy and culture.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming said that exchanges and cooperation between Yunnan province and Bangladesh in trade, education, health care and culture have been progressing in the past few years, adding that the Colorful Yunnan exhibition will help boost such cooperation.
