Chinese mainland reports 30 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases

BEIJING, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese mainland on Friday reported 30 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, including 18 in Jiangsu Province, four each in Henan and Hubei, three in Hunan, and one in Yunnan, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Saturday.

Also reported were 36 new imported cases, including 11 in Fujian, five each in Shanghai and Yunnan, four each in Shandong and Sichuan, three in Guangdong, two in Tianjin, and one each in Liaoning and Shaanxi.

No new suspected cases or deaths related to COVID-19 were reported on Friday, the commission added.

By the end of Friday, a total of 7,845 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Among them, 7,106 had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, and 739 remained hospitalized. No deaths had been reported among the imported cases.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland reached 94,326 by Friday, including 1,907 patients still receiving treatment, 62 of whom were in severe condition.

A total of 87,783 patients had been discharged from hospitals following recovery on the mainland, and 4,636 had died as a result of the virus.

There were two suspected COVID-19 cases on the mainland on Friday.

A total of 19 asymptomatic cases were newly reported. There were a total of 487 asymptomatic cases, of which 383 were imported, under medical observation on Friday.

By the end of Friday, 12,030 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 212 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), while 63 cases had been reported in the Macao SAR, and 15,836 cases, including 819 deaths, had been reported in Taiwan.

A total of 11,736 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, while 57 had been discharged in the Macao SAR, and 13,142 had been discharged in Taiwan.
