RIO DE JANEIRO, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Zenit Saint-Petersburg forward Malcom has been drafted into Brazil's Olympic squad for the Tokyo Games, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old former Barcelona player replaces Douglas Augusto, who was forced to withdraw because of a left hamstring injury, according to a CBF statement.
It added that Malcolm would join his national teammates in Tokyo on July 18.
The Olympic men's football tournament will be played from July 22 to August 7.
Brazil, who won gold in the event for the first time at the Rio 2016 Games, have been drawn in Group D in Tokyo alongside Germany, Saudi Arabia and Cote d'Ivoire.
