MINSK, March 11 (Xinhua) -- The coronavirus variant first discovered in Britain was registered in Belarus, the press service of the Belarusian Health Ministry said on Thursday.

People who arrived from abroad -- Poland, Ukraine and Egypt -- were the first carriers of the new strain, the press service said.

Several positive samples came from persons infected in the country.
