BEIJING, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 jolted 102 km northwest of Vallenar, Chile at 07:01:24 GMT on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 20.01 km, was initially determined to be at 27.9576 degrees south latitude and 71.5292 degrees west longitude.
