World leaders positively evaluate, support China's fight against virus outbreak

BEIJING, Jan. 30 -- In recent days, many leaders of various countries and international organizations have spoken positively of and supported China's efforts to battle the novel coronavirus outbreak through letters and other means.

First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba Raul Castro Ruz and Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said that the rapid and vigorous measures taken by China have given them full confidence in the ability and wisdom of their Chinese friends.

They expressed their belief that with its rich experience, China will overcome the epidemic, adding that Cuba stands ready to provide all assistance within its capacity to their Chinese brothers.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that the Vietnamese people are very concerned about the present challenges confronting the Chinese people and share their feelings, adding that the great efforts made by the leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the government as well as the Chinese people to fight against the epidemic, and the spirit of international cooperation have contributed to protecting the health of people in the region and around the world.

He believed that under the wise leadership of the CPC and with its experience in fighting Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), China will secure an early victory against the epidemic.

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that Cambodian students and diplomats studying and working in China should remain calm, and the Cambodian people will work with the Chinese people to overcome the epidemic and weather the hard times together, adding that a friend in need is a friend indeed.

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said that the strong measures taken by China have fully demonstrated the determination and confidence of the Chinese government in preventing and controlling the epidemic.

Sri Lankan Prime Minster Mahinda Rajapaksa commended China for helping Sri Lankan students in Wuhan during difficult times, adding that Sri Lanka will work with China to deal with the epidemic.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in spoke positively of the Chinese government's efforts to deal with the epidemic and expressed his belief that the epidemic will be brought under control at an early date, adding that South Korea stands ready to do its best to support and cooperate with China.

U.S. President Donald Trump said that the United States appreciates China's efforts and transparency in preventing and controlling the epidemic, adding that the U.S. side is in close communication with China on the issue and is willing to provide necessary assistance.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison highly commended the measures taken by the Chinese government to combat the epidemic, adding that Australia looks forward to strengthening cooperation with China in this regard to jointly tackle the epidemic.

Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno spoke highly of the Chinese government's timely and proactive measures and transparency in controlling the epidemic. He thanked China for helping Ecuadorian citizens in China and said that all Ecuadorian people hope the epidemic will subside soon.

Other leaders, including Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Comorian President Azali Assoumani, President of Senegal Macky Sall, President of Central Africa Republic Faustin-Archange Touadera, and Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Keith Christopher Rowley, praised China's efficient and effective measures to prevent and control the epidemic, and believed that the great Chinese people are fully capable of overcoming it.

United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the United Nations stands firmly with the Chinese government and people, has full confidence in China's ability to prevent and control the outbreak, and is willing to provide China with all possible support and assistance.

World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that China's approach reflects openness, transparency and international cooperation.

Noting that the Chinese government is doing its best every day to protect the Chinese people not only for its own sake but also for the world's, he said that China deserves the international community's gratitude and respect. He added that China needs the world's solidarity and support.
