The Yingge Dance is a national folk art of intangible cultural heritage that is popular in the Chaoshan area of Guangdong province in South China. Based on the heroic stories from the novel The Water Margin, the art integrates drama, dance and martial arts, with the main form of performance being large-scale group dance. Dancers, each holding short sticks, jump up and down, incorporating powerful movements and strong rhythms.
