ACCRA, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government donated 100 police vehicles to Ghana on Monday to help the West African country strengthen its capacity building in law enforcement.
"These vehicles will play an important role in fighting crimes and protecting both Ghanaian people and foreign investors," said Wang Shiting, Chinese ambassador to Ghana, at a hand-over ceremony held in the capital Accra.
Praising the increasing bilateral exchanges and progress made in the development of China-Ghana relations, Wang said that China has become Ghana's biggest trade partner and investor.
Describing China as "a strong and reliable friend," Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for support to the Ghanaian police.
He voiced hope that the vehicles will reinforce the mobility and logistical capability of the Ghanaian police.
Present at the ceremony were Ghana's Interior Minister Ambrose Dery, Inspector-General of Police James Oppong-Boanuh and other officials.
