Chinese people are losing their hair earlier than before, resulting in a rise in hair loss treatment, cctv.com reported on Aug. 26.

According to a survey conducted by China’s National Health Commission, about 250 million Chinese currently suffer from some degree of hair loss.

Meanwhile, the hair treatment market in China continues to flourish. Figures from a cosmetics company indicated that people aged between 23-25 and 34-36 are the major groups choosing hair transplantation to aid their hair loss issues.

The CEO of the company said there are about 4,000 certificated medical beauty healthcare institutions on its platform, and they are growing at a rate of around 40 percent every year.

Zhang Yu, CEO of a hair transplantation organization based in Beijing, disclosed that their doctors perform an average of around 5,000 hair transplant operations a month. Industry information indicated that a hair transplant operation costs about 30,000 yuan.

Currently, the hair transplant industry still lacks professionals to match the ever-growing market demand, and because the threshold is low, a number of non-professionals are flooding the industry.

Reports had confirmed that some training centers provided students with just three days of training before assuring them that they were qualified to perform transplants.
