BEIJING, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- A total of 105 scenic spots in Beijing were temporarily closed as of 9 a.m. Monday, as a heavy rainstorm is expected to hit the capital.

Beijing has issued a blue alert for geological disaster, with a red alert for rain and storms in Huairou District.

From 3 p.m. Sunday to 2 p.m. Monday, the city saw an average of 35.4 millimeters of precipitation, with some areas in Huairou District experiencing over 239 millimeters, according to Guo Jinlan, a chief forecaster with the Beijing Meteorological Service.
