SAN FRANCISCO, July 13 -- A three-month photo exhibition being held in San Francisco reflects how photographers have witnessed the development of China-U.S. relations in the past 40 years, Arthur Dong, president of San Francisco Photographers' Association, said Saturday.

"Working as photographers in the United States, we have benefited from the friendly relationship between China and the United States, and we are witnesses, participants and practitioners of this relationship," Dong told Xinhua.

The exhibition, which opened Friday at San Francisco Public Library in city's downtown area, is held to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of China-U.S. diplomatic relations, Dong said. "We are looking forward to continued and stable relationship between the two countries."

Chinese Consul General in San Francisco Wang Donghua, who cut the ribbon at the launch ceremony, recalled the ups and downs in the course of China-U.S. relationship, and expressed hopes for the development of bilateral ties in the next 40 years.

Wang told a first-prize winner that he appreciated his efforts to record the wonderful China-U.S. history in an artistic way.

The exhibition features about 400 photos, including those taken with mobile phones, from 158 Chinese and American photographers in the U.S. Bay Area, China and other countries. Forty-six winners shared the awards of first, second and third prizes.

The event, featuring the theme of "Ordinary, Wonderful, Natural and Dedication," will be running until the end of October this year.
