Seeking win-win solution is key to end U.S.-China Trade war: Californian politician

LOS ANGELES, June 30 (Xinhua) -- The United States and China should "seek and find quickly a win-win solution" in order to have meaningful long-term trade results, a retired California State senator told Xinhua Sunday.

Bob Huff, a retired California State Senator and State Senate Republican Leader Emeritus, said that results of the latest meeting in Osaka between the two countries' leaders generated sighs of relief.

"As a former California State Senator, I have consistently stated that a trade war benefits no one, certainly not California," the 65-tear-old Republican politician said.

"Our state economy is dependent on trade and tourism. With our world-class research universities, we have attracted world-class students, many of whom have stayed and helped drive our high-technology sector. These businesses have turned to other countries, often China, to build the devices we design here in California," he said.

Huff urged the two sides to re-start talks and try their best to find quickly a win-win solution, saying since "there have been 11 rounds of trade talks to date, so it can be presumed the nagging issues separating the two sides have already been put on the table and discussed in detail."

The retired politician, who founded a Los Angeles-based think tank Huff Strategies, stressed that a win-win solution will benefit both countries and the world, warning it is impossible to cut ties with China as some American conservatives preached.
