BEIJING, May 16 (Xinhua) -- A symposium on the study of a recent speech made by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the All-China Youth Federation (ACYF) was held Thursday in Beijing.

The study focused on Xi's speech on April 30 on the centenary of the May Fourth Movement.

Attending the symposium, You Quan, a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, summarized the contributions made by the ACYF to the cause of the Party and the state over the past 70 years.

Under the leadership of the CPC, the ACYF has held high the banner of patriotism and socialism, united and mobilized generation after generation of young people to break new ground and work hard, said You.

He called for efforts to deepen the study and implementation of Xi's speech, continue to uphold the leadership of the Party, pool the widest range of youth forces with patriotism, promote the development of youth, and strive for the realization of the "two centenary goals" and the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.

More than 150 representatives of current and former ACYF members and youth from all walks of life attended the meeting.
