In 2018, China's express business volume surpassed that of the developed economies of the United States, Japan and Europe, ranking first in the world for five consecutive years, revealed a recent report on the indexes of China’s express delivery industry development in 2018.

As shown in the report, which was released by China’s State Post Bureau on April 11, China's express delivery industry accounted for over half of the global express delivery market last year, with an average daily volume of 140 million units, with the busiest day seeing 420 million units delivered in the space of 24 hours.

The country’s volume and revenue of express delivery services in 2018 were 21.7 times and 10.5 times more than that of the year 2010, said the report. The report also indicated that the compound annual growth rate of China’s volume and revenue in the express delivery sector stood at 46.9 percent and 34.2 percent, respectively.

In 2018, there were more than 60,000 express delivery service stations located in China’s rural areas, covering 92.4 percent of the country’s villages and towns, rising by 5.1 percentage points from the previous year, said the report.

Additionally, the report predicts that express services will deliver more than 60 billion items in China in 2019, an increase of 22 percent compared to 2018.
