OTTAWA, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- A house fire killed seven children in Halifax of Canada early Tuesday, according to CBC.

The tragedy happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday when the house, which is situated in a newly built residential neighborhood in Spryfield community of Halifax, is extensively damaged in the blaze.

A family with seven children who came to Canada as Syrian refugees lived in the home. The children ranged in ages from three months to 17 years old.

A man with life-threatening injuries and a woman with non-life-threatening injuries were taken to hospital.
