This year, Rain Water falls on the same day as the Lantern Festival. The Lantern Festival is an important traditional Chinese festival, marking the final day of the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations. During the Lantern Festival, people watch lantern decorations and dragon dances on the streets, solve riddles on the lanterns and eat glutinous rice balls filled with sweet paste.

This year’s Lantern Festival will also meet the super moon, meaning that the full moon coincides with the closest approach to Earth in its orbit. On this day, people will see the biggest and roundest moon of the whole year.

Though it is getting warmer in general during Rain Water, the weather can easily change. It is highly advised that you put on face mask, scarf and gloves to avoid catching colds. In addition, eating more sweet foods or fewer sour foods is also beneficial to the health. Foods like honey, taro and white jelly mushroom are all recommended.
