"It seems that I would need to pay attention to those food delivery guys besides giant pandas if I were to travel to Chengdu", "a great singer whose singing career was delayed by his delivery job", "anyone who has a dream is worth respecting"…, these are netizens' comments following a video of a Chinese delivery man singing on the street, Chengdu Economic Daily reported on Dec.13.

Song Yucai, the singer in the video, is a 23-year-old delivery man in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province. He delivers food by day and sings on a street outside a shopping mall at Luzhouli in Tianfu'erjie Street, Wuhou District of Chengdu by night.

Every night after 8:00 p.m., street concerts at Luzhouli offer heart-touching performances to audiences. The singers are mostly amateurs from all walks of life who have regular jobs during the day and come here to relax and enjoy their hobby after work. With Song joining the team, the concerts are becoming more eye-catching.

Song stops taking orders for delivery service after 8:00 p.m., so that he can ensure enough time for his performance. "Every day, Song parks his electric scooter aside and waits for his turn to perform, he doesn't even have time to change his uniform," said a man surnamed Zhao, who is the organizer of the street concerts.

The video of Song singing a popular song of famous Chinese singer Jay Chou in a delivery man uniform was posted online and aroused a sensation among Chinese netizens. Many people gave thumbs up to the video and praised Song's performance. Some people who have watched Song's performance online expressed that it was "amazing" and "full of positive energy".

While people around him now call him a cyber celebrity, Song said he knows that he is actually not that famous, but it's a great pleasure to sing after work every day. "I really enjoy this," Song expressed, also disclosing that he was not quite good at communicating with others before, and has been trying to improve his communication skills after taking the job as a delivery man.

"If I had not become a delivery man, I might not be able to sing in public", said Song, who is now sometimes invited to sing in pubs after getting discovered for his musical talent while delivering food.

Song graduated this past June from a vocational school in Chengdu. His major at the school was automobile repair. Before becoming a food delivery man this October, Song had worked for an internet-based company for a short time but resigned shortly after for he thought the job was "dull".

"Live music is the best", said Song, expressing that he enjoys live performance very much and feels like he is really himself only when he was singing.
