On October 8, in the 116th anniversary of Xiangyang No. 5 Middle School, 15 teachers and 30 students won Liu Daoyu Prize for Creative Education. In April 2008, Liu Daoyu Education Foundation set up the "Liu Daoyu Creative Education Award Fund" in Xiangyang No. 5 Middle School, which is dedicated to rewarding outstanding teachers and students of Xiangyang No. 5 Middle School who create outstanding educational achievements every year. Liu Daoyu, a famous educationist, is the former President of Wuhan University and alumnus of Xiangyang No. 5 Middle School.
