The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Wednesday confirmed the successful launch of an intermediate-range ballistic missile "Hwasong-12", which it fired on Tuesday, KCNA news agency has reported.

The projectile flew more than 2,700 kilometers over Japan's northern territory before falling into the Pacific Ocean off Hokkaido.
The DPRK leader Kim Jong Un inspected the launch and said Tuesday's missile test was "a meaningful prelude to containing Guam," the report said.
