(Xinhua)    20:46, August 21, 2017

The Chinese mainland spoke highly of Taiwan-based New Party's stance of opposing "Taiwan independence," a mainland spokesperson said Monday.

An Fengshan, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said that the New Party has always advocated for peaceful reunification of the two sides across the Taiwan Strait and firmly adhered to the one-China principle since its founding 24 years ago.

On Aug. 20, the New Party brought up a new statement on the party course at its 24th anniversary celebration, and its chairman Yok Mu-ming said that they should "forge ahead for peaceful reunification and rejuvenation of the Chinese nation."

The mainland would like to communicate with all of Taiwan's parties, groups and organizations that adhere to the one-China principle, support national reunification and oppose "Taiwan independence," in order to promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, maintain peace and stability, and cooperate in national reunification and rejuvenation, An said.
