(Xinhua)    20:25, July 31, 2017

Typhoons Nesat and Haitang left 131 injured and one missing in Taiwan as of 3 p.m. Monday, according to the island's emergency operation center.

The storms resulted in power outages in 670,425 households. As of 3 p.m. on Monday, power had been restored to 657,911, with the remaining still subject to power cuts.

A power transmission tower in Hualien collapsed, the island's power department said. Repairs are underway.

Agricultural losses from storms reached over NT$170 million (about 5.6 million U.S. dollars) as of Monday.

Typhoon Nesat swept across Taiwan from Saturday, followed by Haitang, bringing showers and causing damage.

Haitang has weakened to a tropical depression, but its periphery is expected to bring heavy to extremely heavy rain in many areas, especially in Kaohsiung and Pingtung over the next 24 hours, the island's weather authority said.

The authority also warned the public to be alert for possible landslides, mudslides, flooding and falling rocks, especially in mountainous and riverside areas.
