“If you don’t travel around, you would think that this is the world,” said Syifa Adriana, an Indonesian Muslim girl, at the beginning of her video talking about her experience in China. She has been traveling since 2013 and has been to five countries so far. She arrived in China in January and has stayed for the longest among places she’s been to.
Adriana enjoys her life in China in general, no matter if it is crazy shopping at malls, trying dumplings at local restaurants, partying with friends, sharing public bicycles, or listening to the voice of streets. She is enthusiastic about sharing all aspects of her life in China through internet.
“If you are wondering in terms of food safety, so far I don’t have any problem. I cannot say a lot but I’m alive, healthy. It is very much the fact.” You can feel her genuineness and brightness through her videos.
As a Muslim, Adriana soon realized Chinese women have higher social status than what has been commonly reported about. She uses her own stories and experience to challenge the stereotypes about China that are normally held in other countries. She wants to tell others that China is very different from its image captured in western media. She wants to tell others that, “if you don’t believe that, why don’t you come to China and see it yourself?”
