Wang, an 80-year old grandfather, walked 60 km on the Hang-Rui Expressway to deliver eggs to his grandson in Zunyi, Guizhou Province, because he was afraid that his grandson wasn’t getting enough to eat at the construction site where he works.
According to Guiyang Evening News, Wang had been walking for 12 hours before police found him on July 17. He was hobbling on the side of the road with a basket full of eggs on his back. Police said several of the eggs were broken.
Wang said he was worried that his grandson was not getting proper nutrition, so he decided to deliver dozens of eggs by himself without telling anyone. He started on his long journey in the early morning to save money. “It’s too expensive to take a bus,” said Wang.
Wang did not know the address where his grandson was working or have his phone number, he only knew the district. So the police sent him to local police station in Majiawan District, and they found the grandson’s contract information.
“I’m surprised and moved that my grandpa did this for me,” Wang’s grandson said. He then led his grandfather to a restaurant for a hearty meal.
