Golf tournament promotes green 'Belt and Road' in Beijing

The 18th Peace Cup International Golf Tournament concluded in Beijing on June 16. Themed "Green Belt and Road," the amateur tournament attracted nearly 100 foreign envoys, representatives of international organizations, leaders of multinational corporations and celebrities.

"I hope people from all countries will participate in the historical project of 'person-to-person bonds' and jointly build the green 'Belt and Road,'" said Sha Zukang, former deputy secretary-general of the United Nations and director of the China-Pakistan Friendship Association.

A charitable donation was also organized to promote environmental protection. The donation, titled "A Drop of Water," is expected to be used as special public funds for the construction of green "Belt and Road" projects.

Winners were announced at the awards ceremony for longest drive and nearest pin, along with gross champion and net champion. Lovers of golf and peace from more than 30 countries exchanged their views on topics including global governance, poverty alleviation, culture integration, Beijing's 2022 Winter Olympics and the city's new government center.

The annual tournament, focusing on "Peace +1" public welfare for 18 consecutive years, was co-sponsored by the Beijing Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, the Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the China World Peace Foundation.
