A legless man from Beichuan, Sichuan province has written more than a thousand love poems on a 100-meter scroll, which he gifted to his girlfriend. This undertaking completely won over his girlfriend's parents, who had opposed their relationship at first.
The 27-year-old man, named Dai Guohong, lost his legs nine years ago in the Wenchuan earthquake. He hit it off with his girlfriend, Su Simiao, when the two met at a dinner. Su, who is a nurse, activated Dai's sense of identity as a physically disabled man.
After a month, Dai bought a 100-meter scroll when he was in Hong Kong for surgery, and started recording love poems on it. He has now written about 1,000. After learning of Dai's special gift, Su's parents were deeply touched by his love for their daughter. On Sept. 18, 2015, Dai proposed to Su, and they registered for marriage last July.
