Chongqing villager finds ancient Ba swords while renovating old house

By Zhang Huan (People's Daily Online)    13:05, January 16, 2017

Peng Bo, a man in the Yongchuan district of Chongqing, recently found two ancient swords while renovating his house. An antiques expert speculated that, based on their shape, the weapons dated back to the Ba state (11th century-316 B.C.). Each sword is worth 50,000RMB ($7,248). Experts said such ancient swords were previously unearthed in Zhutuo, Chongqing.

“[My family] has lived here since my grandfather’s grandfather's generation, and no one has ever mentioned [the swords], so I am also unclear where they are from,” said Peng. Peng noted that the house has more than 100 years of history.
