Twitter suspends its CEO's account by mistake

(Xinhua)    14:41, November 24, 2016

The co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Twitter Jack Dorsey had his own Twitter account suspended for a while late Tuesday, sending out a huge surprise and big laugh on the Internet.

Following the tweet Dorsey posted -- "just setting up my twttr ...again (account suspension was an internal mistake)," over 2,900 users retweeted this post and over 5,000 netizens left a Like mark.

Some follower joked that "was twitter hacked? Must have been the Russians." Some wrote "@jack you probably offended someone."

Though Dorsey pointed the near-15-minute suspension to "an internal mistake," most followers regarded this short malfunction funny and ironic.

Many U.S. media related this incident to Twitter's recent suspension of many accounts associated with the alt-right movement, an organization that advocates for white supremacism and white nationalism.

Actually, Twitter has its own rules to suspend members' accounts. The company may review users' complaints to see whether an account violates its community standards and then decides to suspend it or not.

But this time, Twitter CEO's experience is obviously nothing to do with the social platform's rules of censorship.

He has posted five new tweets after his account was revived, including a retweet from Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
