Siberian tiger mauled by 8 other tigers in botanical garden

(People's Daily Online)    16:57, September 07, 2016

On the afternoon of Sept. 6, a Siberian tiger wandered outside of its territory and was promptly attacked and killed by eight other tigers in the Changchun Botanical and Zoological Garden.

A video clip showed several tigers surrounding another tiger lying on the ground. According to a witness, the tiger that was killed was a female, and was smaller than her attackers.

The female tiger lived in another area of the park. The witness said she entered the area through a breach in the fence. When the attack began, several tourists called the park to report the incident, but no keeper came to the scene.

The witness said that the body of the dead tiger must have been dragged away. A reporter searched for the body and found it in a river. Keepers eventually attempted to scare the other tigers away with firecrackers so they could properly dispose of the dead tiger's body.
