Ancestral Temple of Master Mi

Located alongside Han River of Xiangyang, a famous cultural and historical city, the Ancestral Temple of Master Mi was originally named Buddhist Convent of Master Mi that was built to commemorate Mi Fu, one of the famous four calligraphers during the Northern Song Dynasty. It is one of the symbolic landscapes of the city of Xiangyang.

Mi Fu, also known as “Mi of Xiangyang.” He was proficient in writing poems and skilled at calligraphy and painting. He and Su Shi, Huang Tingjian and Cai Xiang were together called the great four calligraphers of the Song Dynasty.

The Ancestral Temple of Master Mi covers an area of about 16,000 square meters, with four courtyards from the front to the back, facing the south. On 25 May 2016, the Ancestral Temple of Master Mi as an ancient building of the Qing Dynasty was approved and listed as the sixth batch of major historical and cultural sites protected at the national level by the State Council. After renovation and modification, the Ancestral Temple of Master Mi has been receiving visitors home and abroad in an endless stream.
