Chinese government has announced the country's planned measures to open up government data to the public by 2018.

The National Development and Reform Commission secretary-general Li Pumin says the government will make special efforts in the areas of institutional restraints, loophole systems and un-unified standardization to further open government data to the public.

"We're to prioritize opening to the public related data based on source management. This dictates sorting and listing out government data sources. We will strengthen overall management of various sources by combing through existing government databases and by giving priority to increments."

The government is also set to perfect the country's rule-of-law system and standardize the publicly accessible data systems.
