BEIJING, July 26 (Xinhua) -- The friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Nepal will not change, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday, following a resignation announcement by Nepalese Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli.
Oli announced his resignation on Sunday at the House session before parliament was to vote on a no-confidence motion.
"As Nepal's neighbor and friend, we sincerely hope that all parties can keep Nepal's national interests in mind and stay committed to the country's stability and development," spokesperson Lu Kang said at a press release in response to the changing situation in the Himalayan country.
China and Nepal share weal and woe, he said, adding that no matter how the international and domestic situations change, the friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries will not change.
