MOSCOW, April 18 -- The United States and its allies have unleashed hybrid warfare against Russia and some other countries, head of the Russian Investigative Committee, Russia's main federal investigative authority, said on Monday.
"For the last decade, Russia and some other countries have been living in a condition of hybrid war waged by the U.S. and its allies in different directions: political, economic, informational and legal. Moreover, recently, it has been moved to a qualitatively new phase of open conflict," Alexander Bastrykin said in an interview with Russian newspaper Kommersant.
The United States brought down the currencies of developing countries through currency wars, and imposed trade and financial sanctions, Bastrykin added.
These measures caused the sharp devaluation of the ruble, a decrease in real income and industrial production, as well as economic recession, he said.
"Unfortunately, the tools of such wars are the international law and justice based on it," he added.
He also said the United States has completely destabilized the Middle East "by supporting radical Islamic and other radical ideologies."
"Europe suffers the consequences of U.S. actions: the revolutions and crises in the region, crowds of refugees preaching qualitatively different socio-cultural traditions and superseding the local population," he said.
Bastrykin also said America's policy has led to the strengthening of the Islamic State terror group which is banned in Russia.
