The elephant, named "Zhusunya", attacked three people in Yexianggu (Wild Elephant Valley) scenic area in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture at 5 p.m., when they were repairing an optical cable near an elephant trail.

One person was tripped by the elephant and hurt his left leg and arm, another two successfully escaped. The man injured was soon rescued by a forest patrol nearby.

Earlier this year, "Zhusunya" had wandered into a crowded tourist road and damaged more than a dozen parked cars.
