"Wake Up," the first 4-D death experience space in Shanghai, opened on April 4, the same day as the traditional Tomb-Sweeping Festival in China. This death-themed experience has attracted a great deal of attention from curious citizens. So far, 40 people have booked the experience and there have been no vacant slots on weekends.
Visitors first go through a "death rehearsal" in the experience designed by "Wake Up." In each round of the game, a maximum of 12 people can participate. Each guest takes part in 12 psychological games, and one person gets eliminated through discussion, debate and a group-wide vote. The eliminated guest goes through the "door of impermanence" and enters the simulated incinerator to "return to zero" and then finally "wake up," thus finishing the process of death and rebirth.
"Wake Up" is a public organization dedicating to educating people about life, and the death experience is an important part of that education.
The company's founder, Morris, said that it is very important for people to be prepared for death. The experience he has curated can help eliminate people's fear of death.
After being open for just one day, the experience space has already received many appointments. The space is fully booked for the next several weeks. Most visitors who went on April 4 had positive things to say about the experience.
