(Xinhua)    20:04, March 22, 2016

AMMAN, March 22 -- EU's foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini cried at a press conference in Amman on Tuesday over the terror attacks in Brussels.

At a joint press conference with Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, Mogherini stopped short and said: "Today is a difficult day."

"We are still waiting for more information about the attacks in Brussels today but it is clear that the pain we feel in our areas is the same one you feel in your part of the world," Mogherini said.

"We are united like you in the reactions to these acts to prevent terrorism and extremism," Mogherini added as she cried, embraced Judeh and walked off the stage.

Judeh condemned the terrorist attacks, stressing Jordan's efforts in combating terror.

"No one is immune to these terrorist attacks and we are in solidarity with our friends in Belgium," said Judeh.

During her visit, Mogherini is to meet with King Abdullah II of Jordan and Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour.
