Two former Communist Party of China (CPC) officials from North China's Hebei Province have been expelled due to "serious law and discipline violations," the provincial discipline inspection department said in a statement Saturday.

Chen Gui, former party chief of Hengshui City and Hou Zhiyu, deputy head of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Tangshan City, have been expelled from the Party, according to the statement.

Chen severely violated the Party's political discipline, and obstructed investigation against him by the party, the statement said.

He also took advantage of his post to seek promotions for others and accepted bribes.

Hou was expelled on similar grounds, their cases have been transferred to prosecutors.
