Firefighters found two puppies trapped in a destroyed minivan at the site of the landslide in Shenzhen. They broke a window to rescue the puppies. After that, the two grateful puppies followed the rescuers wherever they went.
A landslide on Dec. 20 buried 33 buildings in an industrial park in Shenzhen city, south China's Guangdong province. Rescue work has been ongoing for the past four days.
The rescuers were from the fire brigade of Foshan, another city in south China's Guangdong province. They arrived at the site after the disaster occurred. When they passed by a deserted garage, they heard the whimpering of the dogs. Later, they returned to rescue the two puppies.
When natural disasters such as earthquakes or landslides happen, we often hear news about animals, such as cats or chickens, being rescued from the debris. Life detectors and rescue dogs sometimes can’t distinguish between humans and animals. Out of respect for all life, rescuers try their best to dig and search no matter who or what they are rescuing; for the creature being saved, it is another chance at life.
