JD.com will soon deploy drones for distributing purchased items to remote villages in China, Liu Qiangdong, CEO of the Chinese ecommerce giant told People’s Daily Online in an exclusive interview.

Liu Qiangdong said in the exclusive interview that cyber attacks hinder Internet innovation and the development of many enterprises.

Liu reveals that the server of JD.com, the Chinese ecommerce giant, are under hundreds of thousands of times attacking attempts every day. Cyber-attacks and network frauds are prevailing nowadays. To stop being attacked, JD.com has increased the number of network security staffs, hardware facilities, broadband, and employees. Since DDoS attacks are rampant, JD has to largely increase spending to deal with these attacks. Taking all of these expenses into consideration, there could be hundreds of millions of economic loss. “Enterprises like JD are able to take the punch based on its scale, while for many new entrepreneurs, I believe this cost is devastating for them.”

However, Liu Qiangdong still encourage young people to startup their own business in the industry of e-commence. He suggests that the spirit of innovation and persistence is the basic quality for startup entrepreneurs. Although there are challenges, young people should not be afraid of these obstacles and keep on sticking to their beliefs.

For JD's next big move, Liu discloses that drones will be soon deployed for distributing items to remote villages. Because of the high cost in logistics, JD is planning to purchase 200,000 drones. 1,000 will be allocated for each county in China to deliver items for villages.
