China’s major oil and gas company Sinopec has commenced the construction of a service station at the multipurpose port on Yongxin Island, Sansha city, south China's Hainan Province, the state-owned company announced on its social media account on December 14.

The move is to solve the petroleum supply difficulty in infrastructure construction in Sansha city, said Sinopec on Weibo, a twitter-like Chinese social media platform. Sansha is China’s southernmost island city, whose central part locates on Yongxing, one of the Xisha islands.

The service station will be completed within three months, and the 2000-cubic-meter oil storage tank that comes along with it will be completed within a year. Once finished, the project is expected to satisfy the oil demands for all the islands in Sansha city, said Sinopec in the announcement.
