According to US Navy Institute News, US Navy’s largest ever destroyer Zumwalt had set off from Gerneral Dynamics Bath Iron Work to the sea for its first voyage to Maine’s Kennebec River bound for the Atlantic Ocean, Dec. 7, 2015.
The Zumwalt Destroy is over 16,000 tons and 600 feet long. The construction of the ship started in 2008 and lasted 7 years for production and trails. More than 200 shipbuilders, sailors and residents gathered to “see off” the ship. Many of them were very excited, some even welled up for the trip of the largest destroyer.
The US Navy did not reveal many details besides some photos of the ship on social media and its website.
